Well that went very quickly, our first birthday has come and gone. We can hardly believe that Wivenhoe Kitchen has been trading for a whole year and through some very challenging circumstances. But, it has been a delight.

We want to thank all of you for your support, encouragement, ideas and feedback. We have made some amazing new friends, developed our repertoire (if that's not too fine a word) and found out that we can adapt and change with the best of them.

As you know from our previous blogs, our little business has been assisted by the generosity of several people and this is a good time to thank them all - so delivery boy Jim, Saturday girl Carol, Charlotte (she of the amazing flapjacks) and last, but by no means least, Janice who has painstakingly and patiently, guided us through the process of trying to keep the books straight - our gratitude and heartfelt thanks to you all.

I know we've said this before but it's good to reflect on the fact that our original idea was to start a lunchtime food delivery service to people working in offices, a good idea in itself but not so great when taken in the context of a global pandemic that saw people drastically changing their work habits. The business now offers an extensive range of plant based frozen meals available to pre-order or come and buy in person on a Saturday morning. We have listened to suggestions and now offer two hot cooked lunch options on Saturdays, usually noodles of some kind and either a curry (served with a mini naan bread) or a chilli/hot stew. They're great value at £4.50 so why not come down and treat yourself this week? We’ve even got somewhere for you to sit and eat and drink (did we mention that we also sell tea, coffee and soft drinks?). Here’s a photo of happy staff and customers (and Reg, the dog).

We said in our last blog, that we're looking into the possibility of extending our opening hours and delivery options to include Tendring (once the fuel madness has passed). We'll keep you updated about this. Given that we're currently in the midst of petrol problems, this might be a good point to remind you that the Colchester e-cargo bike delivery service is available and happy to take deliveries from us to you if you live within a 4.5 mile radius of Colchester High Street hello@ecargobikecolchester.com or give Lee a call on 07852 958953.

We also wanted to let you know that if you want to buy food from us but have difficulty with collecting it on a Saturday, we can arrange alternative collection times. Just send us an e mail info@wivenhoekitchen.co.uk and we can meet you at a pre-arranged time.

So that’s it for now. All that remains is for us to thank you all - we couldn’t have done it without your support.

Love and best wishes

Bev & Julie

ps, the picture of us was taken by Jim on a fifty year old camera.......
