Happy New Year!

Our second Christmas and New Year came round so fast. The year has really flown by and what a year it's been.

The business has developed beyond all recognition from it's original plan. We've found out that we work really well together and still enjoy creating new dishes to offer. We've also worked out what our strengths and weaknesses are and thank goodness, that we complement each other.

However, the year hasn't all been positive. In late November, after patiently waiting for nearly two years, our Saturday girl Carol was able to make her way to Australia to be with her family. We miss her so much, particularly her ability in the 'dishwashing while still looking glamourous' department. We have to include this beautiful photograph of her and wish her all the very best down under.

Small businesses like ours, have had to constantly evolve in order to survive these challenging times. Like many other local traders, we noticed a drop in our sales once lockdown restrictions were lifted and this was totally to be expected. We've had long conversations about how we can best take the business forward and have come up with a couple of changes.

Firstly, we're going to be changing our opening hours in the New Year and will now be at the unit on Fridays instead of Saturdays from 7th January. The opening hours will stay the same 9-2 and we'll gauge if people still want us to offer freshly prepared things on Fridays such as pastries, soup and naan breads. For customers who aren't able to come along on Fridays, we will offer an alternate collection slot which we can arrange individually. There are a couple of reasons that we've decided to do this; firstly, we've noticed a significant reduction in visitors to the business centre at the weekends and secondly, having worked every weekend since we opened, we thought we'd like to option of weekends away or off! How selfish are we?

It also means that we’ll no longer be having our deliveries done by Saturday boy Jim and we’d like to thank him for all his help since we opened. We’ll still be able to make a small number of deliveries to the Wivenhoe area but it won’t be this happy chap who comes to your door.

We’re also exploring the possibility of working in collaboration with another local business and we’re very excited about this. We’ll keep you updated about this new development.

Finally, as always, we have to thank all of our customers, old and new, for keeping us going through the on-going pandemic and ever changing rules and regulations. We feel pleased and proud to have been able to keep this little business up and running but couldn’t have done it without you (whether you’ve bought one meal or come to see us every week).

So, we're signing off and wishing you all a happy, peaceful and healthy 2022.

Bev & Julie
