We have had such a positive start at Wivenhoe Kitchen and can’t thank you all enough.

We’ve been trading for six weeks now and we’re getting into a good routine. The system of asking people to pre-order by Thursday has proved very effective as has offering a range of frozen meals that are for sale on Saturday. We update the social media sites with a list of what’s available from the freezer on Friday evenings and then it’s first come, first served.

We are regularly selling out of some dishes, the pea pastizzis in particular! Here’s a picture of some giant ones!

But back to the main reason for this update; obviously, England is returning to lockdown restrictions from Thursday this week. It is our intention to continue trading while maintaining safe social distancing and following all that is required of us to keep our customers and ourselves safe. We are able to offer a free delivery service to anyone who lives in Wivenhoe. Just let us know if this is a service that you would like and we will add your order to our Saturday boy’s delivery list! If you prefer to stay at home and would like to know what frozen meals we have available, again, just get in touch (phone, e mail, social media etc) and we will do our best to provide you with the meals you would like.

We will still be happy to greet you (from a safe social distance) at the unit on Saturday mornings when we are open from 9-1. There will be hand sanitizer available outside the kitchen and we will pass your order out to you. We now have a bank card reader for contactless payments but will continue to accept cash too.

That’s about it for now. If you have any questions, please call us or send us a message. Let’s finish with a positive. Here’s an image from the quay this morning. The picture looks quite dark but if you look closely, there are hints of blue and the sun is evident, like the light at the end of a tunnel. Keep positive and safe.

Bev & Julie (and Jim, the Saturday boy)
