At last, summer is here and it’s true to say that it’s been a bit of a mixed bag, weather wise but here’s to hoping for a decent stretch of warmer days.
As has been the case since we started in September last year, our business model (bit of a grand title for what in truth has been more of a ‘make it up as we go along’ due to all the changes we have faced in our first months of trading due to COVID) continues to evolve. We’re lucky to have the flexibility to change things as need dictates.
The sales of salads and burgers has been very popular. We really enjoy making up huge bowls of freshly prepared salads on a Saturday morning and if truth be told, we’d make a lot more of these if we could.

We’ve been lucky enough to be asked to cater for a couple of special occasions too and wanted to let you know that if you have a private event coming up, we’d be happy to prepare a menu designed specifically to your plant based needs. So far, we’ve provided little pizzas for a birthday party, a celebratory birthday meal and most recently, barbecue food. Being asked to work on specific requests gives us a fabulous opportunity to get creative and come up with new ideas, the best of which find their way onto our regular menu. This was the case after we were asked to cater for a private birthday party and we developed an Indian style buffet that was very well received. The onion bhajis are now a permanent fixture, crispy and light and served with a pot of raita.
As we approach our first anniversary, we’re hoping to extend the hours that we open. We’re also planning on extending our delivery areas, most likely into Tendring but this will be dependent on demand. Let us know if this is something that you’d be interested in seeing us do.
A final note, the team enjoyed our first ‘dinner mand dance’ at Valentino’s here in Wivenhoe and a good time was had by all. Here’s a picture to prove it!
And before we sign off, as always we would like to thank you all for your continued support of Wivenhoe Kitchen; it means the world to us!
Best Wishes to you all
